Which Leitner eBike model is right for me?
Please refer to the guide below:
1) Is it important for you to fold the bike, e.g. to fit it into the trunk of your car/camper van or public transport?
Yes: Choose a folding bike model like the SuperT.
Not important: Any model is suitable
2) Is your height between 5ft 2in and 5ft 4in (158-163 cm)?
Yes: It is recommended to choose a bike with 20 inch wheels like the SuperT. The minimum seat height can be found in each bike's product description and it currently is about 33" for the SuperT. The bikes with with 26 inch wheels may be too big for you (the seat or top tube is too high). As every person is different, it is recommended to measure the seat height on a bike you are comfortable with as reference even if it's a non-electric bicycle . Measure from the ground to the top of the seat.
3) Is your height 5'5" - 5'11" (165-180 cm)?
Any model is suitable as the seat and handle stem can be raised, also on the bikes with 20 inch wheels, in order to also suit tall riders.
The minimum seat height can be found in each bike's product description and in the table below.
4) Is your height 6'-6'2"?
The Berlin is a good fit. The SuperT seat can be raised to 36" which means that tall riders will not be able to fully extend their legs while pedaling - the knees will be somewhat bent which is fine if you are using the bike mostly with hand throttle mode and if you are not planning to pedal heavily.
5) Is there a table comparing the models?
Please refer to table below:
|5'1" and shorter||probably too big||probably too big||Too big|
|5'2"||OK||probably too big||Too big|
|5'4"||OK||OK||Probably too big|
|6'-6"2||OK||maybe too small since max seat height is 36"||OK|
|6'3" and taller||probably too small||too small||probably too small|
|seat height from ground to top of seat||
min 31.5" max 39"
||min 32" max 36"||min 33" max 40.5"|
Would you prefer not to lift your leg up high when getting on the bike?
Yes: Choose a mid-step design bike like the SuperT.

Unfortunately not, but... Leitner ebikes are sold factory direct through our website leitnerdirect.com and shipped to you in a box. That's why our ebikes can be sold at much lower prices compared to ebikes at brick and mortar stores. Leitner has been selling thousands of ebikes online in Australia since 2013 without test rides and customers are so thrilled that we continuously receive 5 star reviews.
Why? Leitner Bikes are excellent quality products of course, but on top of that we want to make sure that you pick a bike which is suitable for you. Reading the guide below you will help you to find the model which suits you best and if you're still not sure contact us and we'll answer all your questions to make sure that you pick a bike which suits you perfectly!
Do you sell accessories like pannier bags, baskets, ebike carry bags etc. ?
Unfortunately we do not sell accessories. We recommend to visit a local bike shop or hardware store and ask them to recommend a suitable after-market product.
Do Leitner eBikes fit on bike racks, e.g. on the rear of my car?
Leitner eBikes can be carried on sturdy bike racks. For some models it may be necessary to buy an adaptor bar which are available at local bike shops.
The racks need to be able to carry the weight of the bike (about 47lbs (21kg) without battery, please refer to product page as weight may vary depending on model).
Do I need a license to ride an E-Bike?
Leitner Electric Bikes comply with federal electric bike laws, however regulations are different in each state. Please ask your local authorities. Click this link for a guide which may help point you in the right direction.
How far can you go on one charge?
That is the million dollar question! Answer: it depends on a lot of factors! A 170lbs rider who pedals along on a medium Pedal Assistance setting can on average expect between 20 to 45 miles, however it can be less or more.
Factors which will give you more miles per charge are: low weight on bike, flat paved roads, pedaling, using the bike on low pedal assist mode, tires inflated to 40psi and brakes not rubbing.
Factors which will give you less miles per charge are: High weight on bike, hills, not pedaling and using throttle mode instead, tires not inflated and brakes rubbing.
If you are planning to use the bike for long distances you may consider purchasing a spare battery which will double the distance.
Do the electric bikes come with all the extras like mudguards, chainguards, rear-rack, stand, reflectors, front and rear lights and bell?
Yes, our current Leitner electric bike models have all these extras included. Please refer to product description for details.
How long will it take for my electric bike to arrive?
Delivery will be made by courier, usually within 3-14 business days of payment. Some remote areas may take longer. Delivery time may vary for different states and can take up to 3 weeks.
Does an electric bike make noise?
No. They are not loud at all. Compared to car or motorcycle engines, an electric bike is virtually silent.
Will my electric bike go up a hill easily?
Yes. It will give you more power just when you need it. On steep hills it is necessary to pedal lightly, but it is much easier as compared to a push bike.
Does it recharge the batteries while you pedal?
No. The batteries are charged with a charger. Simply plug it into the wall socket, just like a mobile phone or laptop computer.
How long does it take to charge the electric bike battery?
A full charge could take about 6 hours, but if you have only used the battery for a short time it will take less.
Can I remove the battery from the bike?
Yes, you can remove the battery for your convenience within seconds using your key to unlock it from the frame. It slides out and the seat is especially designed to flip up using a quick release mechanism to make space for the battery removal. On the SuperT model it is necessary to release the seat clamp and twist the seat to remove battery. Please note you need the key in order to remove the battery as it is safely locked into the frame with a security bolt to prevent theft.
Are your electric bicycles waterproof?
Our electric bikes are water-resistant but not water-proof and must not be submersed in water. We recommend not to ride them in heavy rain, through deep puddles and the surf.
Will I need to pedal?
Ebikes allow you to choose exactly how much you would like to exercise: you can pedal, but you don't have to.
Using the standard pedal assist settings you can go to maximum speed on the flat with light, effortless pedaling. You really just need to turn the pedals and the motor does all the work for you.
If you twist the hand-throttle you can ride the bike WITHOUT pedaling on the flat.
What does it cost to run an electric bicycle?
Each full charge costs about 10 cents in electricity. If you have used the battery only for a short time it will cost less.
Does the battery need to be empty before I can recharge it?
No. We use high quality Lithium batteries which can be charged at any time. For best battery life keep it topped up recharge it at least once a month. It is recommended to charge the battery after each trip.
What is the battery life?
Our batteries are rated at a minimum of 500 full charges. That means if you fully discharge 150 times per year, it will last for about 3 years. Don’t expect to have to replace the battery any time soon.
